Tonga Ridge Hike

So, as autumn has officially arrived, here in the Pacific Northwest Mama tells me there is a scramble to soak in the last few rays of sunshine before the grey and drizzly winter sets in for a couple months. We are trying to get outside as much as possible.

On Sunday, we attempted to meet some friends of Papa's who had gone mushroom and berry picking and camped overnight in the Cascade Mountains. However, what Mama and Papa hadn't counted on, even though the hiking trail is quite "kid friendly," it's not necessarily "crawling baby friendly." After about an hour of hiking with me in the carrier on Papa's back, I was more than ready to get down and explore...but there wasn't really any where for me to crawl around and be safe. So Mama and Papa let me get down for a little to eat some food, have part of a bottle, even change my diaper...but I had had enough. So, an hour and a half into the hike with me crying and protesting like crazy, we had to turn around and head back toward the car without ever meeting up with Papa's friends who were located at least a 3 hours hike in. (Turns out that at about 3/4s of the way back to the car, Mama was TOTALLY ready to be done hiking too - she carried me on the return trip...she was trying to be a "good sport" and hike as far as Papa wanted to hike, but she finally said out loud that she was really glad I started grumping when I did...she was pooped out when we got to the car!)

The still shots are pretty awesome, the video's a little silly...but you get the idea!

Papa got a new video camera and here he is looking like a true Hollywood documentarist.
